1. Gnatwork membership
If you choose to complete and submit our membership form and provide personally identifying information (typically your name, company name, email address and research interests), this data is stored on this site, which is hosted on a secure server, with an SSL certificate.
We always aim to maintain the reliability, accuracy, completeness and currency of personally identifying information in our databases . However, we will correct, amend or delete any personally identifying information that is inaccurate. 2. Site visits tracking
Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.
Although Google Analytics records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. Google Analytics also records your computer’s IP address which could be used to personally identify you but Google do not grant us access to this. We consider Google to be a third party data processor.

3. Email links
Should you choose to contact us using an email link, none of the data that you supply will be stored by this website. Instead the data will be collated into an email and sent to us.
4. Email newsletter
If you choose to join our email newsletter, the email address that you submit to us will be forwarded to MailChimp who provide us with email marketing services. We consider MailChimp to be a third party data processor. The email address that you submit will not be stored within this website’s own database or in any of our internal computer systems.
Your email address will remain within MailChimp’s database for as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s services for email marketing or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing using the unsubscribe links contained in any email newsletters that we send you or by requesting removal on the emails themselves, or by emailing enquiries [at] gnatwork [dot] ac [dot] uk (subject: Please%20remove%20me%20from%20the%20Gnatwork%20mailing%20list) . When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.
If you are under 16 years of age you MUST obtain parental consent before joining our email newsletter.
While your email address remains within the MailChimp database, you will receive periodic (monthly) newsletter-style emails from us.
5. BBSRC reporting
The Gnatwork (BB/R005362/1) is one of four Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) Networks in vector-borne disease research that are co-funded by The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Medical Research Council (MRC) and Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In order for BBSRC to monitor and report on the progress the Gnatwork, in terms of community and capacity-building, Gnatwork members’ full names, institutions, current roles and dates joined the network are uploaded onto the BBSRC ‘NetVect’ extranet. This data is stored under the conditions of BBSRC’s privacy policy and is accessible only by Network Managers and associated staff, Directors, and a small number of BBSRC staff who administrate the site. This data is not circulated in any format outside of the extranet or used for any other purposes. Any written documents resulting from this reporting will not contain any personal data of any individual network members.
